Anti-Wrinkle Injections Melbourne
Anti-wrinkle injections offer effective and lasting treatment for some of the obvious signs of ageing caused by repeated muscle contraction. The wrinkle on the overlying skin softens due to the Anti Wrinkle injection weakening the muscle contractions.
Anti wrinkle muscle injections are the most in-demand non-surgical cosmetic treatment worldwide. While they have a well-established role in cosmetic treatments, these injections can also be used medically to treat patients suffering from specific medical muscle conditions.
The treatment consists of carefully injecting a purified protein into specific areas of the face to soften the overlying wrinkle or modify the facial shape. The aim is to look rejuvenated yet maintain a natural look.
There are currently three brands of Anti Wrinkle injections available in Melbourne, Australia however more brands of anti wrinkle injections will become available within the next few years.

How Do Anti Wrinkle Injections Work?
The purified protein that is injected acts by blocking the nerve impulses in specific muscles of the face weakening the contraction of a specific muscles. As the muscle is relaxed the appearance of the overlying wrinkles is reduced.
The aim is to soften or reverse lines present. Continual contraction of a muscle will form lines and wrinkles over time. Even when not using the muscle, lines may stay etched into the skin. Anti wrinkle injections may help reverse the lines or prevent them from forming in the first place.
This treatment is accurately targeted at specific muscles, with only the smallest amount of the anti wrinkle protein injected at one time to ensure it works in a designated area of the face and does not affect surrounding muscles.
Some of the areas that these injections can treat include:
Eye Brow lift
Dimpling of the chin
In addition to the wide range of cosmetic uses, anti-wrinkle injections can also be used to treat other conditions in patients, such as Bruxism (the excessive grinding or clenching of the teeth), migraines, Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), as well as other issues that can affect the lower face.
As a testament to its safety profile, larger doses of anti-wrinkle injections are often used with children as young as 2 years old living with cerebral palsy. With antiwrinkle injection treatments in Melbourne we are using much smaller doses.
What Does the Procedure Involve?
The first appointment for all new patients begins with an in-depth consultation with our qualified and friendly staff. Treatment plans and patient concerns are discussed during this assessment, which allows our staff to understand how to achieve the best aesthetic results for each individual patient.
The procedure itself is very simple and straightforward, only taking a few minutes to complete. In fact, many patients are able to schedule appointments in their lunch break from work and head back into the office once the treatment is finished.
A small amount of the protein is injected under the skin and into the muscle, with most patients reporting little or no discomfort during the treatment. Initially after the Anti wrinkle injection treatment you may see small red bumps which disappear within minutes. Over the following days the targeted muscles will relax and reduce the appearance of the overlying wrinkles, while still allowing the patients to make natural facial expressions. Our aim is to look rejuvenated and natural at the same time.
Is There Any Discomfort?
Patients can experience very slight discomfort. Some patients opt to have the treatment areas numbed with ice prior to the injections, and of course our clinicians will ensure that all patients feel comfortable and relaxed throughout the treatment session.
When Will the Results be Visible?
Early results are often seen after 2-3 days, while full treatment results may take 1-2 weeks. Our team recommend that patients return for a follow-up consultation 2 weeks after treatment to review the treatment results and make any minor adjustments if needed.
How long will Anti Wrinkle Injections Last?
The treatment usually lasts 3-6 months however it varies between individuals.
